The Niagara Refugee Assistance Committee

The Niagara Refugee Assistance Committee was initially formed in 2015 to respond to the Syrian refugee crisis. It was reconvened in 2021 to facilitate local response to the federal government’s commitment to resettle 40,000 Afghan Refugees. The vision of the Niagara Refugee Assistance Committee is to support the successful settlement of newly-arrived refugees in Niagara through the coordination and mobilization of innovative partnerships aligned with the social determinants of health.

The committee values partnership & engagement, inclusion, service integration & coordinated access, excellence & innovation, transparency & accountability.

The group is comprised of members of the Niagara Local Immigration Partnership, local settlement agencies, Mennonite Central Committee and Brock University with additional stakeholders represented on sub-committees.
