With 137 elementary schools, 26 secondary schools, and 11 independent schools, Niagara Canada has a wide variety of options for your child’s education.

School Boards

All Children in Ontario are required to attend school until the age of 18 or until they have graduated from secondary school. For children younger than 18, there are four public (free) school systems:

The District School Board of Niagara is the public school board and biggest school system in Niagara.

The Niagara Catholic District School Board is the public Catholic school board in Niagara and teaches the Catholic faith within its curriculum.

The Conseil Scolaire Viamonde is the public French-language school board for southern Ontario including Niagara.

The Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir is the public Catholic French-language school board for southern Ontario including Niagara.

Independent Schools

Beacon Christian School, in St Catharines, provides primary education for children with an emphasis on Christianity.

Beyond Montessori in St. Catharines offers Montessori education from Toddler to Grade 6.

Located in St Catharines, the Calvary Christian School is an independent, interdenominational and non-profit charity.

Great Lakes Christian High School (GLCHS) is a grade 9-12 secondary school located in Beamsville, Ontario between Toronto and Niagara Falls.

Niagara Islamic School (NIS) and the Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) have joined forces to establish MAC-NIS Islamic School – a full-time Islamic School, Located in St Catharines.

Niagara Christian Collegiate (NCC) is an independent, non-denominational Christian school located in Fort Erie.

Pathways Academy in Niagara Falls offers programs from Toddler to Grade 3 and a blend of Montessori and Traditional teaching concepts.

Ridley College in St. Catharines is an acclaimed co-educational, International Baccalaureate (IB) boarding and day school (JK – Gr. 12/PG) that prepares students to lead meaningful and flourishing lives in a global society.

Vineridge Academy, a leading international high school for students from diverse cultural backgrounds, is located in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Trail Ridge Montessori School, nestled below the Niagara Escarpment, offers two warm and welcoming campuses for children 18 months to 9 years of age.

Wheatley School in St. Catharines offers programs from Toddler through Grade 8, including Montessori and International Baccalaureate (IB).
